Live Recording

Belfast, Northern Ireland, Ulster TV Studio
5 November 1973

This is a recording of the half-hour UTV Documentary Ireland's Eye on Fruupp, recorded on 5 November 1973 and broadcast on March 1974 (by RTE, the national TV service of southern Ireland).   The performance was recorded on a Philips cassette deck using a high-quality Philips cassette tape and what at the time was fairly modern technology, an external loud-speaker socket.  Thus what you hear is a direct recording, untainted by room acoustics or microphone frequency response, of this March 1974 airing of the documentary.   The quality of the recording is superb and the band's performance is fantastic (though they were reputedly miming to pre-recorded music...in the words of the recorder, "unspeakable for a band as tight as Fruupp!!").  The band was really "on", blistering through a tight set of tunes from their first album, including On a Clear Day.   The audience receives the band well, politely clapping between songs, as if in TV studio (which is exactly where they were).  Steve Houston poetically introduces the theme behind each song.

Length of recording   28:41 minutes
