Musical Miscellany: My Life of Song & Sound
Music has played an important role in my life...sort of the right-hemisphere balance I need for what otherwise is a rational, linear left-hemisphere noggin
Like many others my age, it was the four lads from Liverpool that triggered my interest in popular music ... and prompted me to try to become just like them
My first band:
December, 1964, Burksdale Road, Norfolk, Virginia. I'm the stiff bloke on the right, with my first guitar ever, a Harmony. We did covers of (mainly) The Beatles and Stones. Lead guitarist: Phillip Wallace; Rythmn guitarist: Me; Bass/ Vocals: Gary; and Percussions: Kenny Wallace.
I went on to play with several other bands (The Reflections, Albatross, Grinders) that offered up an eclectic mix of garage-band rock, soul, R&B, pop, and (later) progressive sounds. By college, so many gigs in Holiday Inn lounges convinced me that music was not meant to be my livelihood...better find a day job.
My musical interests these days lean towards progressive rock...mainly from the 1970s. Take a look at my web page of live music recordings. I'm always up for a trade of good live music. Also...
